Our campsites in the idyllic Valais - between the Matterhorn and glaciers, on vineyards and with lots of culture. Whether with a tent, bus or camper - camping in Valais will be an unforgettable vacation experience!
The Valais is a region of contrasts, from the highest Swiss peaks to the sun-bathed valleys along the Rhone River. Campers can enjoy days spent with unparalleled views of glaciers, mountain lakes, deep valleys or in idyllic mountain villages. Thermal baths in places like Brig or Saillon offer relaxation after a day of adventure.
Valais has many beautiful places to offer, including Zermatt, probably the most famous resort at the foot of the Matterhorn, and the Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier in the Alps. The Saas Vispa, a wild river, is a popular destination for rafting and kayaking. And in Visperterminen, you can take a stroll through one of the highest vineyards in Europe.
Valais is suitable for those who love being in nature and love doing outdoor activities such as hiking, climbing, mountain biking during summer and world-class skiing and snowboarding in winter. Numerous "Bisses" - ancient irrigation channels - provide unique and easy hiking trails with historical significance.
There's a lot going on in Valais. There are many traditional events and festivals, including the Nostalgic Gourmet Mile in Saas-Fee, the Sierre Blues Festival or the Zermatt Unplugged. Or how about the Open Air Gampel and the Festival des Artistes de Rue in Sierre. For art lovers, there is the renowned Verbier Art Summit festival.
Valais can be visited all year round. While summer (June to September) offers lush landscapes and perfect camping, hiking and biking weather, autumn is spectacular for its golden larch forests and harvest festivals. Winter turns Valais into a skiing paradise, attracting snow enthusiasts from around the world.
Valais is known for its cheese dishes, including especially raclette and fondue. The region is also famous for its wines, like Fendant, a dry white wine that pairs perfectly with local specialties. Another popular dish is the Valais platter, a plate of beef, cheese and rye bread and with more than 80 different varieties, you can almost always buy fresh apricots by the roadside.
